Geneva, UN calls on Libya and EU for change of pace on migrant issue

“The real tragedy is that much of the suffering and deaths along the central Mediterranean route are preventable,” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet denounced today, commenting on an agency report on the subject entitled ‘Lethal Disregard’ and released in Geneva.

Des dizaines de migrants sont portés disparus, et on craint qu’ils ne se soient noyés dans l’épave d’un bateau pneumatique au large des côtes libyennes, selon les rapports de Sos Mediterranee. Selon l’équipage de l’Ocean Viking, 130 personnes se trouvaient à bord d’un canot pneumatique qui avait tenté la traversée dans des conditions de mer prohibitives et dont les traces ont été perdues au nord-est de Tripoli.
